KM for the Experienced Practitioner

We are pleased to announce this forthcoming Ark Group two-day conference and workshop event, to be run at the Novotel Melbourne on 9-11 February 2009. I think that you will find a number of the presenter names to be familiar!  The Keynote address will be from Patrick Lambe.  KMLF members receive a $200 discount!

KM-focused conferences, seminars and workshops rarely provide new or groundbreaking insights for KM specialists. However, it’s in the networking opportunities, knowledge sharing activities and interactive elements where these experts thrive and draw immense value. Ark Group’s KM for the Experienced Practitioner conference provides a step forward for KM Champions looking for a space to collaborate and learn from like-minded professionals in the KM field.

  • Explore new KM techniques and methods using KM Method Cards
  • Hear expert opposing views during our Knowledge Management Roundtable (KMRt) Debate
  • How can you make KM sustainable in your organisation? Join our Roundtable Discussion
  • A Reverse Brainstorming Session: Let’s destroy collaboration!
  • Discover Simple Story Techniques you can apply within your organisation
  • Submit your discussion points to be addressed in the Collaborative Discussion/Wrap-up at the end of day two

Read more about the event and register on the Ark Group site. Refer to your KMLF membership to receive your $200 discount.

(Ark Group are providing support to the Melbourne KMLF in return for promoting this event.)

Knowledge Frameworks for Enhanced Performance

Further to our own session for this month, there is also another activity that you may be interested in:

Arthur Shelley, KMLF member and author of The Organizational Zoo – A Survival Guide to Workplace Behavior, will be running a one-day workshop in Melbourne on 20 November on Knowledge Frameworks for Enhanced Performance.

This is a participant-driven day that offers strategies for promoting a knowledge sharing culture via case studies, participants own experiences and the professional experience of the presenter.  Theory is minimised, the focus is on practical solutions which will deliver strategies for effective knowledge capabilities to create dynamic high-performance knowledge organisations. Each participant will receive comprehensive documentation as an ongoing reference.

Vocal Intelligence – Next meeting

What point is knowledge if no one is prepared to share? As leadership moves away from charismatic attraction, and organisational structures require more and more individual contribution captured through face-to-face interaction, finding the voice to make that contribution is not a simple ‘given’.

Interested to know more? Then come along to this month’s KMLF to hear Dr Louise Mahler speak on this subject.

  • When: Wednesday 26 November from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Where: La Trobe Uni, 215 Franklin St, Melbourne (Update – Room 138 on Level 1 – signs will direct you to the room).
  • Please bring a donation to cover light refreshments.
  • RSVP: Only by email to melbournekmlf@gmail.com

Dr. Louise Mahler is the originator of the ground-breaking theory of Vocal Intelligence that won the 2006 RMIT University Award for Innovation. The practical and philosophical aspects of her work all concern the human voice – the voice as both expression of who we are and the voice as a source of wisdom about the mind’s emotional and psychological conditions. Read more on Louse’s site at The Art of Business.

Louise’s work with her clients is highly experiential and interactive. With Louise’s close guidance and example clients are invited/encouraged to explore their bodily experience of voice and breath to gain greater self-awareness and understanding of their vocal intelligence and, in turn, the vital influences this has on our behaviour and what we are communicating to those around us.

Finding the location:

The building is on the roundabout on the corner of Queen St., near A’Beckett St. Adequate parking should be available in the streets nearby.

Come along for a transformative and fun experience. Hope to see you there!
