About our guest speakers:
Matt Steel Senior wine maker for Domaine Chandon.
Matt is responsible for all wine production at Domaine Chandon. He joined the wine-making team in 2004, and was appointed Senior Winemaker in 2008. His extensive experience in the Yarra Valley, and exposure to some of the best wineries around the world including vintages in Beaujolais and Alsace, along with Domaine Meo Camuzet in Vosne Romanee, have seen him make major contributions to the excellent quality of Chandon’s range of still and sparkling wines. Since joining the team Matt has extended the range of still wines produced at Chandon from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Shiraz to include Sauvignon Blanc and a vibrant Pinot Noir Rosé. Matt’s involvement in wine also extends to show judging.
Mat Janes Public Relations Executive, Estates and Wines ANZ
Mat who is responsible for marketing Domaine Chandon and Cape Mentelle originally worked in the hospitality industry for more than ten years. He owned and operated a cafe in Margaret River for five years before making the change to the wine industry. After three years working in a marketing role for the Cape Mentelle winery in Margaret River Mat took a Public Relations role in the Yarra Valley with Domaine Chandon in 2006. This role involves a broad range of marketing and public relations tasks across the Estates and Wines portfolio of wine businesses.
