Guy St Clair is the President of a New York-based strategy consulting company (SMR International) and we are grateful that he has spared the time from his busy Australian schedule to talk with Melbourne KMLF and the VPSCIN. Guy is past-president of the Special Libraries Association and is Series Editor for the Information Services Management Series.

The topic of Guy’s presentation is the emergence of the information profession of knowledge services which he defines as the convergence of information management, knowledge management, and strategic (performance-centred) learning. Knowledge services is the management methodology to meet the challenge of finding solutions for:
• handling massive amounts of information
• dealing with the accumulated knowledge building up in the enterprise every day
• getting people to share the knowledge they develop.
